The invitation and font that Fiance and I have chosen for our invitations lists our names in lowercase. As he is John Doe III, I think it looks weird written john michael doe iii and discordant between the upper and lower case as john michael doe III. Should we attempt one or the other, or should we just leave the Roman numerals off altogether?
(FYI, this is the design; we’re using the default fonts.)

Personally, it would bug me if names weren’t captital, the roman numerals would look extra odd as iii, at least to me.

I can see the names being lower case, but I feel that numerals should *always* be capitalized.

I would just go without the numerals.

why have you not asked him what he would prefer to be regarded as on his own wedding invitations? You should be asking him, not us.

I think if the III is in a lower size so that it doesn’t tower over the rest, it will look just fine.

Aesthetics; we both have little sense of design.
I wish! All characters have to be the same size.

I struggled with this as well and we used the “III” option.

I think III for sure. My Fiance is “john doe x” ( yes the 10th!) and we used a capital x even though with our font it looks like H. :-/

I’d use III. “iii” would just make me hear, “iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii” in my head, haha.

does your fi normally go with III at the end of his name of just his first and last? if he never goes with III then i won’t put it on the invite. if he does use it, then i would use III but in a bit smaller font size.

I would use III but adjust the font height so that they are the same height as your lower-case letters. I do minor graphic design for work and that would be my preference. It would depend on what letters are in the name, but you’ll just have to mess with it to see if it looks best at the same height as a a b or h or at a letter like a or c.

Can you contact them and ask for a custom on just that III to make it come down to the same size? It might even get them to put in a suffix option.
ETA: THey have a live chat option, I used that feature for the site where I got my wedding ring and the person on the other end was really knowledgable and helped me customize beyond what the site defaults allowed me to do…maybe Wedding Paper Divas can do that too? If not through live chat, maybe through email?

Hurrah, I discovered that if I input “111” (arabic numerals) into the text box, it comes out at a very nice height. However, I did use the live chat option (thanks, HappierKate
), and they can customize font size, too.
