If your dress was ivory did your groom wear an ivory or white shirt?
My dress is a very light ivory and we had trouble finding an ivory shirt that didn’t look yellow. We ended up getting a light cream colour but I know he still prefers white because its cleaner.
Its funny how wedding dresses that are whit elook cheap but for the men an ivory shirt just looks dirty.
Any photos of comparisons?

My husband wore a white shirt and white vest even though my dress was ivory. The ivory shirt and vest just looked nasty and yellow. Besides, brand new ivory dresses look much whiter than the sample because they are super clean. No one could tell that his shirt and my dress were technically different shades of white.

- Wedding: May 2015 - Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception / Courtyard Marriott Legacy Ballroom
DH wore an ivory shirt at our wedding – my dress was a light ivory color.
The groomsmen’s shirts were ivory as well,
I think the shirts look much lighter in the pictures than they did at the store!

I’m so torn by this myself. My dress was ordered in Ivory, but I have no idea how light it will be, the sample was in champaign. He really wants to wear a white shirt, I am just worried it will make my dress look dirty. I saw an ad a men’s warehouse with the juxtaposition of an ivory dress and white shirt on the guy, and I could tell the difference, but my Fiance said he didn’t notice until I pointed it out. I don’t think I ever noticed before, thinking back to other weddings I attended, so I think I may just have everyone wear white shirts.

the white shirt won’t make your dress look dirty! I promise you. Men’s Warehouse’s ivory shirts look dingy and yellow and will look extremely dirty next to your new dress.
This is a horrible picture from the very end of the night but it shows my ivory dress next to his white shirt and vest and you can’t tell the difference and it definitely doesn’t make my dress look dirty.

Good to know, thank you so much for the advice! It does look like his shirt brings out the white at the bottom of your dress. Off to change the shirts to white for all 🙂

White shirts. White shirts are what one wears with a suit on a formal occasion. At levels of formality above a suit, only white is correct, and sometimes Winchesters with Morning Dress.
“I’ll take men’s style for $1000, Alex.”
“It is the correct colour of shirt to wear at a wedding.”
“What is white.”
“$1000, and the board is still yours. Select again.”

my husband wore a white shirt along with his guys. My dress too is a light ivory and it matched perfectly. The store recommended to get white rather than ivory shirts because of the reason it will appear yellowish especially in pictures.

My dress was a very definite ivory – on the hanger it was quite yellow. My DH wore a grey suit, white shirt and ivory vest/tie and it looked fine.
