So I’m at the point of figuring out the Groom/Groomsmen attire situation. My dress is bought, the bridesamaids are taken care of, but I’m wondering what you all have decided on for the men. The bridesmaids are wearing dark purple (lapis at Davids Bridal)
Our Oct. 5th wedding will take place at 3pm outdoors (with a backyard/rustic/barn theme) and our dress code is business casual. I don’t want tuxes for the men. I’m leaning towards gray suits. I originally was thinking of light gray, but then I was told light gray is really a summer suit.
I also want to buy FI’s suit. But I don’t care if the others rent or whatever, as long as they are all similar/match.
Also, do you know what your father (if he’s walking you down the aisle) is wearing? My father is very blue collar and doesn’t own a suit. So we’ll have to pick him out one as well.

We are having a casual, outdoor ceremony at a rustic mountain lodge.
Fiance is wearning nice dark blue jeans, boots, a white button-down shirt with sleaves rolled up, and a black vest.
We don’t have any bridal party members whatsoever, so that’s a non-issue for us.
My dad is wearing black jeans, cowboy boots, and a sport jacket.

Usually you cannot rent suits. We had the groomsmen all wear black suits, and they each bought their own, any kind. My dad wore a grey suit, and I believe the FOG wore black. A friend of mine had all the guys purchase the same dark grey suit from Jcrew Factory.

My bridal party has a similar color theme – my bridesmaids are in eggplant by Alfred Angelo. I went to rent grey suits or tuxes, and found out that you can’t rent suits. The grey tuxes I wanted were $250/piece, and I just couldn’t justify having our groomsmen spending that much to rent. So, we ended up with black suits with eggplant bowties and vests for the groomsmen, and black and ivory for FH.
I’m assuming my father is wearing a black suit, as well as my brother (my brother is my twin and will be walking my mom down the aisle).

I am also an October bride with lapis and a rustic theme! I am very disheartened to hear you can’t rent suits. No wonder I haven’t been finding anythisuits is buying a suit cheaper than renting a tux??

@LilyPea: If this is likely to become the only suit in your FI’s closet, charcoal grey. You can wear it to a wedding, a funeral, a job interview, on a business trip, or break it up and wear the jacket with jeans or contrasting slacks.

Update! We decided to order this suit from Macy’s (they’re having a great sale right now, so I wanted to jump). I’m thinking we’ll have the groomsmen order the same suit, but they’ll just wear it without the jacket.
We definitely thought the dark grey was the way to go since he’ll be able to use it many, many times afterwards.

@weird_bunny: where did you rent the suits?

@Equine_Breeder: I know a lot of bridal salons rent suits…they do around me anyways (NH)…especially if they do proms also.

Our guys are wearing charcoal suits. My fiance and the best man bought theirs. The other groomsman already had one that matched. They got them at Joseph A. Bank, and I think they got the Travelers line. My dad is also buying a suit, but probably not the exact same one.
When we first started researching, I did find that Jim’s Formalwear rents business suits. I think they are a national chain.

I think we’ve decided on charcoal suits. I too at first liked the look of light gray, but was told it’s more of a summer color, plus if the guys were buying them they’d probably rather have a darker gray.
My Fiance and his Bridesmaid or Best Man seem to think they have plenty of time to go shopping. Their idea is to find a BOGO sale at Mens Warehouse or similar and say the good, dark gray suits won’t be out till September. I’m afraid, even on sale, the suits they’ll find will be $$$. And, two of the guys may be considered “big and tall,” so special ordering may be required. I see their point about wanting to look “dashing” in a nicer suit, but I don’t know. Plus, I don’t know if the other GMs can pay that much.
I found a few styles of suits (and got FI’s sister’s approval too) at Boscov’s (regional dept store) in Kenneth Cole Reaction and Adolfo for <$130 each. While they haven’t seen them, Fiance and Bridesmaid or Best Man think they’ll look cheap. Honestly, I don’t think they look OK, and I’ve been disappointed with the quality of some of the rental shops anyway!

Fiance and the groomsmen will be wearing charcoal gray suits. Groom will have ivory shirt, ivory vest and tie. Groomsmen will have ivory shirt, blush pink vest and tie.
The dads will be wearing the same style suit but in light gray, with ivory shirt, light gray vest and light gray tie.
We are having a sunday morning wedding, Ceremony 10am and reception at 11:30am, so I didn’t think tuxes or black suits would be appropriate
We are renting from Friar Tux (they also go by savvi formalwear in some places I think)
It will be around $800 after tax. We got the 6th rental free, so essentially $800 for 6 suit rentals.
