I’m doing it as a surprise. He LOVES chocolate cake and peanut butter icing so that’s what’s it’s made out of. Also, he’s a comic book nerd, so it will look sort of like this, but they’re making it with fondant for a cleaner look:

I’ve never thought about it being a Southern thing. I just assumed it was customary everywhere else too. Even if’ it’s not a Southern wedding, I would say go for it!  Most guys don’t get a say in the wedding details. A groom’s cake is something special just for him. And themed groom’s cakes are awesome! We’re going to try to get a cake with a map of Middle Earth (from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings) for the groom’s cake to represent my fiancé’s favorite books. And since he gets his own cool cake, I may just have to make the wedding cake Jane Austen related for me! Laughing
