I am working on getting a groom’s cake for Fiance. He is big into Harley’s and also the Iowa Hawkeyes 🙂 So I am thinking of having someone make Herky sitting on a Harley. My question is what flavor. The place I am looking at has any flavor imaginable. They have one called Maple Bacon and I heard it tastes like pancakes. We are having the cake at the rehearsal dinner so we will only need it for about 35 people. I can’t ask Fiance because this is a surprise for him. Do you think that I should just go with a plain chocolate or white cake? Or go for something different.
Here is an inspiration photo of the cake with out Herky on it.

I think it depends on what your fi likes best. My husband is into very plain, bland foods so I know he’d prefer plain white cake. But if your fi is more daring with his food, I’d go for something more fun.

If you are doing two layers, you can always ask them to do the top layer in a flavor your Fiance would like, and the bottom layer in something more traditional and “safe”.

I can’t really ask Fiance what he wants because it is going to be a surprise. I have mentioned this flavor before and he seemed willing to try it.

Cute! Why don’t you take him cake tasting and tell him it’s for the wedding cake. You could tell him you’re thinking about maybe doing different flavored layers so that he picks one he likes. Does he like chocolate? Traditionally that’s what flavor the groom’s cake is so that could be a good fallback.
