I always thought it was a cute idea….after watching Steel Magnolias lol. When my SO and I get married, I’m going to do one as a suprise, its either going to be the Stanley Cup(we both love hockey) or something pertaining to billiards, he plays so much I’m seeing blue chalk in my sleep lol

I’m pretty sure the groom’s cake was my husband’s favorite part of the wedding. At our cake tasting he started joking that he wanted a triforce cake (it’s a Legend of Zelda thing). I told him there was no way we were having a yellow triangle as our wedding cake. I reminded him (forcefully) that he’d picked the wedding colors and had a say in everything we chose so I felt not the least bit bad about nixing a stupid yellow triangle for our cake. To be fair I knew he was trolling me, he wouldn’t seriously have done it as our wedding cake, but the conversations about it were so comical that they spread around our group of friends. No joke, his friends would get on me about having a triforce cake too. It was hilarious.
He had no idea I contacted the bakery and asked them to make him one. I swear, that moment we all hope for where his eyes light up like Christmas morning seeing us, that didn’t happen when he first saw ME, it happened seeing the CAKE. He looked at me like I’d done something amazing and like I totally understood him, and he still talks about it 8 months later. He brags that “my wife got me a triforce cake.”
Here’s the cake, it doesn’t look like much to me!
And here he is, after cutting it, hoisting it over his head and running around while the DJ played the theme to Legend of Zelda…it was cool, you’ll have to trust me 🙂
