My Future Mother-In-Law emailed me the style and colour dress she is ordering from David’s Bridal….I am not sure if the colour is too similar to the BM’s and the only other colour is brown which she does not want…..I’m not trying to be crazy bride at all, but I am concerned (since she lives in florida and we’re in ontario) when she gets here and sees how close it is (if it is) she’ll feel awkward wearing it….
Here is the dress she bought: the ink colour
and here is the BM’s colour: in horizon
If I could see these two colours together in person it would be easier….wondering if I should go to David’s bridal near me and take a look…
Bees, do you think they are too similar?
She also said in her email that the dress is not going back….so this may be a moot point…mind you, I have a feeling she will change her mind anyways….lol…our wedding is over a year away….

I don’t think they’re too similar at all; in fact, I think they’re similar enough to identify her as being in some way connected to the wedding party, which is good. But no one’s going to mistake her for a bridesmaid. Go to the shop shop and see; ALWAYS accept the opportunity to see things in person!
I would be a little concerned about ordering dresses this far in advance, though. Fashion changes, people’s body weight changes, and your vision of the wedding will change. You may want to slow down a bit on these details!

@fishbone: Yeah, this is the SECOND dress she had bought for our wedding….my mother has also bought one and has since decided she does not like it…it’s nice that they’re excited, but they are definitely rushing things…..I did NOT ask them to buy the dresses…Thanks for the opinion on the colour…I’m not good at this type of thing, I’m not a girly girl and really don’t care what others wear (as long as it’s not white)…..
They do need to slow down….I think they’re just super excited since my Fiance and I have been together for 9 years…it was a long time coming!

I would just send her the link like you did here and let her decide if she thinks it is too similar or not. It is a very similar color but I honestly dont think it is a big deal, unless it will make her feel awkward so just let her see them side by side and decide what she wants to do.

@MapleCreekBride: Thanks! Yeah I will see what she thinks….I really like the style….I just wish it came in more than one colour…..
Also, for her daughter’s wedding she had dress issues, so I think she’s trying to avoid them (she had a friend make a dress for her that did not turn out at all and she had to go get one last minute)…..So I sort of understand why she’s trying to be prepared….

Oh ya that makes sense and it explains why she is jumping the gun on dress shopping this time around haha

I think the dress she chose will be fine. It is a different blue, but will blend well in pictures.

I think those colors look beautiful together! My mother wore a gown in a sapphire blue shade very similar to the one your Future Mother-In-Law chose, and my bridesmaids were in a caribbean sea-blue-colored gown very similar in color to your bridesmaids’ dresses, and they looked fabulous together! I may be biased, but I think this is a great combination! 🙂
Sorry that my one pic is so huge!
