@NoBaedeker:  Currently (I believe, according to the figures on my appraisal from a few weeks ago) platinum is cheaper than gold (but maybe not if you are going for 14k or 10k). I would do platinum right now since it is more bang for your buck. I regret not getting platinum because i thought itd be cheaper when it turns out it is not. Also, WG requires redipping, so theres that.

Platinum is currently about $200/ ounce less- and you don’t lose metal or have to redip. I’d go for platinum!

Depends on your guy…..Darling Husband has lost his ring so many times I opt to just buy him tungten off ebay now …$20 a pop….and they are actually really nice! But if your guy seems to be able to keep up with things and does not do alot of hard labor with his hands (It is kinna soft) I am sure platinum would be fine

Platinum is cheaper per gram, but it does weigh more than gold—so a ring made in platinum will still be more expensive than gold, if that makes sense.

My FH opted for platinum because he likes the extra weight and we won’t have to get it re-plated like a white gold ring.
