Good morning everyone!
I’ve looked at different websites and places, but there doesn’t seem to be a comprehensive list of groosman’s duties anywhere. The wiki blurb on WB just says that he is asked by the groom.
My SO was recently asked to be in his friend’s spring wedding as a Groomsmen (not BM). I am not involved at all, but I was hoping to give him a rundown of what all is expected of him both duty and moneywise. The wedding will be in the suburbs of the city where he lives and he does not have a car or very much money so we want to take the time to save as necessary. I also want to show him this thread so he will know proper etiquette.
Thanks in advance!

Well, I guess it depends on the formality of the wedding that he will be in. I can tell you that for us, the groomsmen are expected to rent a tux, travel to Philly (which is actually local for most of them), pay for their hotel rooms, and attend the bachelor party.
That’s pretty much it. They get off pretty easy compared to the girls!
I guess the thing to think about would be financial – attire, bachelor party, etc…

So true! The guys just mostly give the groom a hard time about being tied down and yada yada and have fun! That’s pretty much it unless they are asked specifically to do something.

@prisigtr: Thanks! I’m not on The Knot so that didn’t come up in my searches.
I guess this is a “normal” semiformal wedding. It’s in a suburban location that is unknown to me as of now. The ceremony and reception will be in the same location if that helps. The bride and groom are evangelical christians and the only weddings I’ve ever been to are Catholic ones so I’m not sure how that will be any different. I’ve also never been to one where the ceremony and reception are in the same location.
