Looking for some honest feedback on something I can’t quite seem to decide.
We’re getting married at a members-only country club (if you read any of my previous posts, our previous venue fell through – looong story… but, the show must go on!).
We’d like our day to have a very casual but preppy/polo club/dinner party/country club like feel (not sure if that makes sense).
Thus, we’ll be dressing our groomsmen in matching grey suits (yes suits, not tuxes) with white shirts, different navy-printed ties and boat shoes. Something like this.
We haven’t yet decided what our four ushers will wear (keep in mind that two of our ushers are my brothers and will be photographed a lot) and also that we really consider our ushers to be just as important and special to us as our groomsmen (I’m sure everyone does, but I just want to point out that we don’t want them to fee like “2nd class” groomsmen). With that said, however, I wouldn’t mind the ushers and groomsmen to dress differently (both nice, of course).
So, we’re considering something like this for the ushers (but not with coral ties, even though I looooove the coral ties):
My question: Does the khaki/navy combo clash with the grey suits? Or, do you think it’ll work?
2nd question: What do you put the dads in?

If you are planning on photographing both the groomsmen and ushers together I would either dress the ushers in the same suit (different tie maybe?) or a lighter grey suit. I think that the two different suits together could clash. They a two different ‘looks’, the grey suits seam a bit more formal to me and the khaki pants with blue jackets seam a lot more casual (I think a little bit more of a uniformed prep school).

That’s a really good point.
If it’s any help, my bridesmaids are wearing mis-matched navy blue chiffon knee-length dresses.

I was thinking the same thing! I’d just have the ushers in different color ties.

Our ushers are wearing purple dress shirts with black vests, no suit jackets. The rest of the party is wearing suits

I too think the khaki pants would not look great with the grey suits.
Have you considered the blazer with grey pants?

I put our ushers in the same suit/same tie combo as the groomsmen.

We gifted our ushers a red tie and then asked them to wear their own white shirt and black pants.
My brother has been an usher at a couple of weddings and he rented a tux for one of them with a different colour vest than the groomsmen and that looked really sharp.
Maybe the same suit in Navy? Then put the dads in black?
