With less than 3 weeks left till our wedding one of our groomsmen is bailing on our cruise. We paid over $500 for his room and it is now too late to swap him out with another guest. He is claiming that he cannot get off work, even though he has known about this for over a year!! He works part time at a bike shop. I cannot belive that he is doing this to us!!!!

@bam_461: Yikes! I’d ask him to pay you back that amount but other bees may not agree with me on that…

@mchitt329: We had a bridesmaid that has way less money than the groomsman and she had to cancel as well. She was kind enough to tell us 3 months before not 3 weeks and she offered to pay us back. Thank you for the validation.

@bam_461: Yes, I mean I feel like the bridal party should know what they’re signing up for when it’s a Destination Wedding.

If he had told us just one week earlier we could have swaped him out for another person, at least then we would not have lost the money.

Wow thats not nice! I would be so mad! Three months is one thing but not 3 weeks!! Could you get someone to take his place?

We called today and we can change him out for someone else but it will cost an extra $350 because of the time left before the cruise.

@bam_461: I would totally ask him to cover the $350 extra to switch people. He screwed up. He should have to pay for it.

@AdriannaJean: This. It seems the most fair way to handle things.

What a jerk. Undependable and inconsiderate.
