Hi! So I’m having a dilemma…can the groom and groomsmen wear tan suits in October? A family member said “No” because its after labor day. Do people still follow those rules? I want to do tan suits with brown ties (girls will be in brown). Is this okay?
Second prong to my question: any places to rent tan suits? Or any cheap places to buy tan suits? Thanks in advance for your help!

Tan suits in October (in California!) will be fine. They will look great with the bridesmaids’ brown dresses.

I think your outfits sound like they would look great as well, especially for an October wedding! I don’t know about the whole labor day thing, I’ve never actually even heard of that before…

YES YES YES. We are October 2 in Wisconsin and doing tan suits from DuBois formalwear (not sure where else they’re located). The girls are in burnt orange dresses. I’m SO excited for how fall-ish it will all look!

Oh…thank you so much for all you’re help and input!!! I’m so happy that tan in fall is okay! I was hoping so because I love the tan suit look over tuxs especially with the fall colors we are doing (brown, burnt orange, and olive green).
So one more question…I want to put my fiance in a burnt orange tie and the groomsmen in brown ties but my mom told me that the groom should not be in color. What do you guys think? what are you doing? Thanks again for all the help!

Do these pics answer your question? All are grooms with or without their groomsmen.
Things have changed in the world of weddings- especially when it comes to color for the men.

@MadtownBride: That combination’s going to look great. But that IS a tuxedo– the Parisian in tan by Jean Yves

@mrformalaz: Yes, you’re right, it is a tux. We’ve been calling it a suit, because many of our unfamiliar/less traditional groomsmen think when we say “tux” we mean vest and bow-tie. Technically, it is a tux!
@Ashleebee: I think your groom in a burnt orange tie will look great!

I’m so happy I found this thread! I’m planning on having my bridesmaids wear brown and the guys wear tan so this confirmed what I was thinking! My wedding will be 9/29 in NY but I’m still gonna go for it. I’ll just try and make it a darker tan 🙂
