Typically the guys pay for their suits or tux rentals, just like the girls pay for their dresses. If you wanted to pay for them, you totally can, but then I feel like it would only be fair for you to pay for the girls too.

My thought (and what we’re doing) is that if the girls are paying for their dresses, the guys should pay for their suits/tuxes, whether they are being rented or purchased.  If you pay for them, I think it would count as their gift, but it depends how much you want to spend on them.  Honestly, that might be a good gift, because we are finding that it’s hard to pick something for the guys!

If the girls are paying for their own dresses, then the guys pay for theirs. I would endeavor to keep the costs relatively the same. I would not expect the men to have to exceed the cost of a tux rental by much if I were asking them to buy a suit.

The guys are paying for their own suits, just as the girls got their own dress. We tried to make it insanely easy for them (black suit with a specific shirt, brown accessories, and black shoes). We’re allowing them to get their suit wherever they’d like as long as it’s black (no pinstripes or designs), and is a 1 notch with at least 2 buttons.

We’re paying, hence we only have best man and Maid/Matron of Honor.
