Tis the Holiday Season. The Time for spending time with love ones near and far, and warm and fuzzy thoughts. It’s also mega consumerism time–Stores are full of holiday specials and the internet is blasted with ads to buy this and that.
And I guess we cannot even escape it at work. I was just asked yesterday if I could contribute $20 towards a department gift for our Department head. We are a small department of 5-6 people and that’s a gift of $100+. It was decided that we are going to buy this woman a facial
Am I crazy or is this completely redicious?! I usually give my co-workers a simple treat bag or bring in a baked good. This woman makes about 2x as much as me AT LEAST and I am supposed to give her part of my salary?
Tell me am I being a Scourge? Or let me know how much you plan to give your Boss for Christmas. I just find that this Group Gift was inapprioiate, I am not close to my department head, we do not hang out outside of work. Needless to say the woman who came to each of us, IS her friend out of work.
or should I just suck it up and shell out the money?
