Closertofine:  I have been to several weddings where the bride and groom started out alone for  a while, then they were joined by the parents, grandparents, weding party etc. By the end of th esong or medley of songs, everyone was up dancing. The DJ called the groups to join in.

I have also been to weddings where the bride and groom were only joined by the parents and grandparents.

I went to a wedding that had a group first dance. It was fantastic and completely took the pressure off the newly weds.  Everyone got up to dance out of respect so the dance floor was filled right from the start  of the evening.

I wish I had thought of it as the first dance was the worst part of my day – i hate dancing but did it for Darling Husband as it was important for him.

Closertofine:  we didn’t exactly do one, but we started out just the two of us, got bored after a couple minutes, and split and grabbed people to join us (starting with family and the bridesmaids), with each couple splitting and grabbing someone else until everyone was up and dancing; it worked really well 🙂

We are doing a group first dance. Fiance refused to be on display with a traditional first dance and after some thought I agree so a group dance is what we are doing. We are only having 50 people so I think it will be fun and set the tone for the dance party.
