Anyone else having hymns sung during the ceremony? I’ve never seen this done but as it’s pretty traditional where FH is from, we’re doing them. Suggestions? I’m lost! As we’re having a November wedding, I thought that “For the Beauty of the Earth” might be nice… any other suggestions?

Yes, I’ve seen this done, and I really enjoy it. As a guest at the wedding it makes me feel like I’m participating some how. And I just love hymns. 🙂
My favorite is Great is Thy Faithfulness.

We’re using Come Thou Fount and In Christ Alone (we felt we should have a more contemporary song for the friends who go to more contemporary churches, especially those that go to the local emergant church and never sing traditional hymns)

We are doing this and our hymn is Would You Bless Our Homes and Families. It follows the same melody as Come Thou Fount and makes everyone feel part of the ceremony as a celebration of love and family.

@UK Bride: I never heard of it before I went to a few church weddings last year. I ended up having three hymns. Two before the ceremony, and one during communion (DH and I only partook in communion) We did our two favorite hymns “Come thou Fount” and “As the Deer Panteth for the Water” first, and for communion, we chose “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. It wasn’t too much/too long, and it was just enough to get the congregation comfortable enough with singing the hymns.
