I take prenatal vitamins and an extra biotin supplement.  It helps my hair/ finger nails stay stonger.  I’m not sure there is a whole lot else you can do aside from extensions.  Some people are blessed and their hair grows quickly; others, not so much.  I tried those shampoos and conditions that claim to make your hair grown but it was a big, fat waste of money.

Vitamins like PP said… makes them stronger so no breakage! Then it’s more healthy and grows great! Less heat on hair and not shampooing every day! I also use sulfate free shampoo by LOREAL, only real one in the stores (walmart etc) that is 100% sulfate free. That is about it 🙂

Try taking a B vitamin complex (try the 100—your urine might go bright yellow just because of getting rid of whatever vitamins your body won’t use)

I started these and my nails are tougher and growing faster than they have ever been…I think i can actually get a manicure and NOT FAKE NAILS because of this!

@scgirl21:  I’m a licensed cosmetologist and out of everything I’ve seen out there, taking vitamins (prenatal vitamins or a good vitamin with biotin in it), along with eating a high protein diet works best for hair growth itself. As far as keeping your strands healthy and preventing breakage, I’d recommend a good shampoo and conditioner (OTC, Nexxus is decent).  If you style your hair with heat everyday then a leave in conditioner will protect your ends from damage.  Getting the ends trimmed every 12 weeks is a good idea, as well. Getting the ends trimmed doesn’t actually help with growth, since the hair grows from the scalp, but it prevents split ends from getting out of control.

If your hair isn’t growing as fast as you’d like, there is always clip in extensions from Sally’s Beauty Supply. I really like the Remy human hair clip in extensions. They are about 100 per pack but I bought mine last year and they are still in great shape. You can wash and curl the human hair extensions.
