My son is 4 and has been having “growing pains” on and off since he was 3. He has had problems atleast 5 times this past year. He gets them any time of the day and they usually end up lasting for more than a day some have been almost a week before. A few times he refused to even walk on which ever leg it was. I called his DR this morning because yesterday when I picked him up from daycare he was limping and would not straighten his leg. He was up several times during the night with SO carrying him to the bathroom to go potty because he couldn’t walk. So this morning I called his DR and told him what was going on and he still thinks it’s growing pains. Everything that I have read said that it should only happen in the evening and during the night but go away in the morning.
Things they say that are causes for concern would be: limping, pain that is persistent, Still present in the morning, Severe enough to interfere with your child’s normal activities (my son can’t walk!)
So I am taking him in to get x-rays and then talk to the Dr. It just seems strange to me that the Dr still thinks they are growing pains. I truly hope that is all it is and not something serious. We have already had a scare with Kawasaki’s Disease and I hope it is nothing serious.
Any other parents dealt with something like this?
