Wow I can’t believe so many people are attacking this post- I personally like to look at guesses to see if mine was close. Is my diamond as big as hers? No, but I don’t think she is bragging any more than those who brag about their D, IF  ideal cut half carat. All of it is personal preference and if you don’t like the guessing game just don’t click on the thread- it was in the title.

Very large.  Too large for my taste because it lacks sparkle.  All that matters is that you love it.

FutureMrsPolo:  I agree, I thought it was CZ because it lacks any sparkle and depth of a diamond. Must be lower on the clarity scale, but as long as OP is happy with it.

Wait is  it a diamond? Because often sapphires have a very high carat weight but can look the same as a a lower carat diamond. Sapphires are denser, that’s why. Maybe it’s the photo, but it looks like a white sapphire to me.

Actual carats of that one, or diamond equivalent? CZs are denser than diamonds, so that ring probably weighs more than a similar sized diamond.

Well it just goes to show that “lower” colors can face up pretty white. I hate when people insinuate that diamonds below near colorless or even colorless are somehow inferior. Every once in a while I kick myself for selecting a D color diamond and paying the associated premium. And I love diamonds with a little warmth – their fire is beautiful. Congratulations on your engagement.

rosecut: I also thought white sapphire. Is it a diamond? I didn’t see where she said what it was. ETA: nevermind, I see.

Chaitea:  If you can look down from the top and see the culet, it’s not a diamond.

ETA: I was in the jewelry industry for several years and this was the easiest way to immediately identify a CZ. It only works for rounds, but it’s always true for rounds. In a round diamond, the light bounces around too much to see the point clearly.
