Maybe they are giving you a hard time  for posting wedding details  on FB when not everyone reading  has been invited.  Or  kidding.  Just a thought.

Otherwise, just say, I’m sorry, we’re having a small wedding.

@weddingmaven:  +1 on the FB thing.

I am not posting anything wedding-related on FB until after the fact. You are really only inviting trouble that way.

@dicapriosimaginarywife:  Oh gotcha! In that case, you can’t avoid it. My bad. I told a coworker, and she pretty much blabbed to everyone.

@dicapriosimaginarywife:  I would advise you do not talk much about the wedding details over Facebook. I understand they might have seen it, even by the simple mention ”engaged” on your status, but if you don’t want to upset people, I think it will be a good idea to have a wedding blog which only those you wish to invite could visit, that way you can still share details of the planning, without having everybody expecting to be part of it. Facebook is tricky, because when someone post pictures or news, it is intented for everybody to see (unless you change the settings). So sharing wedding details to everyone, somehow sends the message they are all implied in it (thus reinforces their hopes that they will be invited).

If anybody asks, you can always answer that you are having a small wedding (closest family only) to avoid ”old” friends to suddenly feel entitled to get an invite.

I came into this thread hoping it was Leo saying he’s been wrong all these years and can’t live without you…oh well!

Don’t worry about these high school aquaintances, just tell them it’s a small wedding and move on. They’ll forget about it eventually!

I’m getting that a lot with some of the people I work with – I only invited 2 people I work with, and one of them is my cousin. Just tell them politely it’s a small wedding, and if they keep hounding you just ignore them. They can’t have been that close to you if they’re only JUST getting in touch with you now.
