I have seen several postings about guest book benches, but I cannot find anything about what is used to write on them. Does anyone know what kind of pens you use to write on wood?
My dad is making us one for our wedding and I don’t want to ruin it by using the wrong writing utensil!

That is a fabulous idea. I wish I knew a good pen for you.. you def. want something that’s waterproof, and something that won’t rub off. Maybe you can do an “engraving” technique, where they carve into it, and then you can put a clear coat or three over it when you get it, to smooth it out and keep it nice?
I think that any type of marker/pen would fade or rub off if it were left outside. Where were you planning to keep it?

Maybe you could go to a craft store like Micheals or Hobby Lobby and see if they have any suggestions, but if they don’t know definitely try Lowes or Home Depot. If it really comes down to it, use sharpies in your wedding colors and paint over the writing with a clear coating like Ella1978 suggested.

Thanks ladies. We aren’t sure where we will keep it but we will definitely want to seal it with a clear coat. I think your right that it would fade and rub off.
Ill check with hobby lobby and lowes, thanks!
