Hi Bees… I am trying to find unique ideas for our guest book. We are having an intimate summer wedding with our closest family and friends (about 40 guests) in our backyard. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

We are doing a signature platter. It’s a ceramic plate that guest can sign, you just put in the oven to set it afterwards.
We left postcards from Hawaii (our honeymoon locale) on the tables for our guestbook. The guests wrote us messages and my mom mailed them all while we were on our honeymoon so that when we got home we had about 70 postcards waiting for us. We put them all in an album- I loved it!
Oh, also my friend had their engagement picture at the reception with a large mat around it and everyone left a message on the mat. They have it hanging in their living room now.
I am looking for a Photo Guestbook. I will have my attendants at the entrance to the church with Polaroid cameras, taking pictures of each guest as they enter. Then they will put the pictures into the guest book, and the guest will write a little note next to it. I’m looking for a guest book for this still. Any ideas?
I think we’re going to make a photoscrapbook. I picked up an 8×8 scrapbook from the craftstore and I plan on having a little "photobooth" area set up so everyone can get a picture, with silly hats, feather boas, silly props basically. Then each person/couple gets a page to write whatever they want and I’ll have pre-cut mattes in the size of their photos already set up. I figured it would make for a good set of memories!
I’ve seen it done at a few other weddings and it seems to be a hit.
Here are two sites that sell the Polaroid Guestbook http://www.beau-coup.com/personalized-photo-guest-books.htm and http://www.shopforweddings.com/shopforweddings/AFLProductPage.aspx?scId=Guest%20Books(KnotShop)&pId=P621(KnotShop)&cId=Ceremony(KnotShop)&CSR=&cTypF= I think it is a really great idea and am thinking about using it in my own wedding – my mom has a concern about the logistics of having all the guests take a photo, write a message and wait for the pic to develop and insert it into the book – she is concerned that it will be too time consuming and a line will form (she bases this fear on an experience she had with a long guestbook line while trying to enter the cocktail room – she said guests became very agitated and some even skipped off the line and cut ahead just because they were missing the cocktail hour, never signing the book and starting off the evening in a grumpy mood) I am trying to decide if I can find a place for it within the cocktail area rather than the usual – front entrance – Good luck!
We’re both big baseball fans so we’re having a homeplate for our guest book. I am having a plaque engraved with "The P****r home established July 12, 2008" to put in the middle. We’ll have it framed in a shadow box from Aaron Brother’s. I first thought of signing baseballs, but FH thought of the homeplate!
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions! I think I am going to think of an item that’s meaningful to us and have our guests sign it and frame it afterwards.
I love the postcard idea. Too bad our honeymoon will have to wait as my parents are going to stay with us for another 2-3 weeks after the wedding since they are coming from another country.
I am actually thinking of framing photographs of myself and fiance with different people that are attending the wedding. I know they sell frames that you can write on top of. So that they can find their photos with us and leave their wishes.
I love photos and I know I’ll have a lot of frames in my future house, so might as well get started during the wedding =)
Hope this helps,
D
