I really don’t want a guest book at my wedding but I don’t know if I am sold with the idea of having a picture blown up and people signing it either. Is anyone else doing anything different? Let me know your ideas please……

@KerileeQ: I think I’m going to stain a jewelry box (like a cheap one from A.C. Moore/JoAnn’s/etc.) and have my guests sign it. In the box, I’ll keep my nicer jewelry, including my wedding jewelry.
I don’t like guest books either, and I’m not sold on the thumbprint trees or signing a picture mat.

We had this poster printed–we ordered it in our wedding colours. Melanie Linder was great to work with (she just had a baby so all custom orders are on hold until the new year).
We are hoping to get it framed soon and hang it up in our home. It’s beautiful! Sadly a guest set a glass of red wine down on a corner and there is now a red ring mark 🙁 It adds character, I guess!

- Wedding: November 2012 - Oak Tree Manor
We displayed a bunch of old postcards from around the world (I scored a lot of 200 miscellaneous postcards for ~$20 on eBay) and our guests wrote notes on them. I tucked them into a shoebox so Mr. W and I can read them but we don’t stare at signatures all the time. I love it, because it’s very “us” – we love to travel, and I keep postcards as a memento – my dad traveled all the time on business while I was growing up and he sent me a post card from every single trip. Here was one of my inspiration pics:

We finally figured out what we’re going to do for ours. Still some kinks but w/e.
We aren’t big fans of traditional and even non-traditional guestbooks that seem like fancy yearbooks. We definitely don’t want to stare at signature like pp said, and I’m so type A that handwriting actually causes me anxiety.
Anyway, so we have a photo album. We’re goin go to put pictures in it and leave some spaces open (4×6)
We’re going to design 4×6 cards for people to fill out with very specific questions, like name our kids, 3 places we should visit in our lifetime, best word to describe us, <<but more thought out. So the back the card they can write their well wishes, the front will be a fill in the blank with minimum writing.
After all is said and done we’ll try and mix in some of the pics from the photobooth since we get them all in 4×6 on a disc.

I had a coffee table book made of our engagement pictures, and had guests sign that. I wish I had thought it through more, though – almost all the signatures are on one page.

We are having a Fingerprint tree that I ordered off Etsy. I’m super excited about it!

Can I just say, If all the logistics were in our favor and we were doing the country chic thing or w/e…which our is the complete opposite, I thought yesterday that it would be soooo cool to get a wooden bench and have people carve their initials into it. haha…that’s better left to SMP I guess 🙂

display a bible that will be your family bible. Have guests highlight their favorite verses and sign their name beside them.

@KerileeQ: we are doing questions like “where do you see us in 20 years ?”
“what should we name our kids?”
“whats your funniest memory of us?”
and then people will answer then sign their name at the bottom and we will put them in a scrapbook after. i think it will be funny and we can always go back and read them, instead of just reading peoples names.

I did something like this using a taller vase. I now have all the cards in the vase with a floral arrangement (artificial flowers of course )
