I’ve seen a few posts on here from bees that have done engagement photo guest books, and really liked that idea! Just a few questions..
How many photos did you end up using roughly, and how many pages should it be? We’re having probably 250 people at the wedding…
Also, there weren’t THAT many photos that I really liked from our engagement session, so I would prefer if there were less photos… how would this be done, just 1 or 2 photos per page or something?
Would love to see examples that other bees have done, if possible! Thanks 🙂

we’re having problable 200 people and are using a 50 page book. we have anywhere from 1-5 photos per page (we mixed in personal vacation photos too). if you want to use less, just put 1 or 2 per page. don’t forget to leave blank space for people to write too. you can leave whole pages blank too. or fill it in with clip art designs.

Thanks! 🙂 Did you just leave white space around the photos, or have actual lines for guests to sign? I assume some people will want to write cute messages rather than just their names..

I made a 20 page 8×11 guest book from shutterfly.com. I did pictures on every other page and I used 1-4 pictures per page so like maybe 20 pictures all together. On the other pages I used a background with lines for people to write on and headings such as “Our guests” and “Advice and well-wishes”. I think it turned out nicely! ETA: we are expecting about 200 guests as well with apprx 20% children though so I think our book will be big enough.

I used Mixbook.com I loved it! There are sooo many different options for pages and design. Plus it was cheap!

Just a quick note, if you can, get a book with non-glossy spots for writing on the pages. Or get a quick-dry pen and TEST IT beforehand! I’ve seen too many books like this go wrong with smears everywhere.

@strackeproductions:
Thanks 🙂 That was going to be my next question, what kind of pen/marker to provide haha! The pages would be regular photo pages so yeah, i was worried about that!

I made one through AdoramaPix. I made a post about it here so you can see some of my page layouts: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/my-awesome-adoramapix-photobook-lots-of-pics
I made a 26 page book with blank white space (no lines) around my photos. I had a 135 person wedding and still had a lot of extra space where people could have written. People signed with a regular old Sharpie and it worked great – not a single smear!

I’m wondering about this too. I’m having ~200 guests and am going to get the 12″x12″ 40 page specialty guestbook from Photobook America (Got a Groupon for it!! :D). Not sure what kind of pen to use though….

@Mrs.KMM:
Thank you so much! I remember one of your posts was the one I came across long before when I got the idea to do this!
Was it a thin tip sharpie? LOL.
I will most likely go with Adorama also.. they have a special right now for a 10X10 book for around $40 for 26 pages. I really don’t have THAT many photos to add, so there should be enough space for 250 people, especially if I leave a few pages blank.
Thanks everyone for the help, and hopefully this post will help some others also!

@europomme: Nope – we just used a regular tip sharpie (although I’m sure a thin tip would work too and might be nice for you since you’ll have more people signing than I did).

For our couples we usually do a 10 page book (8×8) with 20 sides…and about 50% of the space (at most) is left blank or writeable. For 250 you might want a little more – but we’ve used that size for 200 people without a problem. Yes a fine tipped sharpie is perfect in most cases.
