No, I think it’s perfectly okay to do so.  We are having a signature mat and also thinking about a wish bowl or advice book to pass around.  I think it will be fine – especially if you are trying to scrapbook the wishes or something.  I’ve been to weddings with both, and then a videographer who went around to every person collecting more advice/good wishes for the couple.  Something like that would be overkill, but I don’t think anyone would mind signing your guestbook and then writing a wish card for you.  Go with it!  Your vase is gorgeous by the way!

Ohhh pretty vase! Where’d you find it?

And I think it’d be fine to do both!

I’ve been thinking of doing both as well.  I think the key is to have them in separate locations so that guests don’t get overwhelmed with spending a lot of time at one table.  We are having our reception outside under a tent, and the guest book table (and polaroid pics) will be set up outside.  I’m thinking of putting a wish bowl inside the house, where guests will walk past it to use the restrooms.
