Wow, even after you gave her a final deadline and said no more changes she still came to you with more changes to the guest list?!  That’s ridiculous.

I’ve been having Future Mother-In-Law issues too.  FH and I went over to her house one night and teamed up to explain to her that this is our wedding, not hers, and any decisions we make are ours to make, not hers.  It felt good to work as a team.  And FH  appreciated not having to act as the middleman between me and his mother.

Oh wow! I’m sorry you are having to go through that. That is just terrible, thankfully the only Father-In-Law I may have problems with being opinionated is my one Future Sister-In-Law, hopefully not though.

Mothers will never understand the stress of today’s weddings.  Back in their day, there wasn’t all this wedding hoopla and expense.  Since the invites are made up, I would just send them out as is, and then kindly tell your Future Mother-In-Law, I’m sorry but I’ve already sent the invites out, based on the list you provided by the deadline date.

Be strong hun!  You’ll get through this!

@coffeegal85:  This. Instead of telling her to talk to your Fiance when she came to you with changes, you really should have told her that you gave her a deadline, that passed, the invitations are made and have been sent out already, and that was the end.

Guest lists and invites tend to cause the most stress, I think.

But you can relax about the timing of the invitations. Unless you’re doing a destination wedding, you do not need to send invitations so far in advance – in fact, 6 weeks is typical, and 8 weeks is usually consdired very-advance-notice.
