I ordered pocket invitations that come with a belly band and tag with our intials on it. I have been planning to put that inside an outter envelope and call it good. However, without an inner envelope, do I risk people not understanding who is invited (i.e. no kids, guest or not, etc.?) Or should I be using inner envelopes + pocket invite + outter envelope? It’s too late to change the RSVP wording by the way.

I would say most people do not use inner envelopes anymore. Just list out every persons name on the outer envelope. Don’t put “The Jones Family.” If you’re doing a no kids wedding doing “x seats have been reserved in your honor” is something I would recommend but you said its too late to change the RSVP wording so I think the only other thing you can do is spread it by word of mouth and put it on your website

Could you add the guest names on the belly band? If you’re concerned about people not knowing who is invited, your guests will be unsure too, so it’s probably prudent to still use an inner envelope.
FWIW, every invitation I’ve gotten in my adult life has had an inner envelope (including my own wedding). My circle usually has formal weddings and follows traditional etiquette, though.

I don’t think a pocket invite is a substitute for an inner envelope. Are you planning on writing all the names of the people invited on the outside of the pocket?
Anyways, I don’t think inner envelopes are necessary at all. I have never received an invite that includes them and I didn’t include them. Just be specific on the outer envelope about who is invited.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I think I’ll just add the inner envelope. Should have just done that instead of pockets I guess 😕
