It’s becoming more popular in my area to use school buses. Every shuttle we’ve been on for the past 5 weddings have been school buses and no one cares. People are jus so damn happy they get a ride! We’re also using a school by for ours. Aaaand they hold more people!

It’s very generous and thoughtful that you are providing transportation, I’m sure people will just be happy on whatever!

The seats on the coach would be more comfortable than bus seats. That being said, the drive is only 10-15 minutes, so comfort doesn’t matter as much. Plus, if your guests really care about comfort more than convenience, they can drive their own cars to your venue. If you’re on a budget, I would go with the school bus. Otherwise, the coach is nice but not necessary.

We had the same debate and ultimately went for the coach buses since we thought they would be a bit more comfortable for our guests. But if you’re on a tight budget, the school buses do the same job and everyone will be happy to have the transportation.

I don’t see anything wrong with going with the school bus if you’re on a budget. It’s very thoughtful of you to arrange a shuttle at all, not everyone does that (or is able to).

Is it only going to make one run or available for several runs?

Think of your most elderly and/or physically limited person – what is going to be easiest for them?

My mother has a hard time with stairs and my grandmother had a hard time sitting on hard surfaces due to degenerative hip disease.  School bus stairs are generally steeper and easier on those young kid knees but harder on adults with bad knees and those seats are not comfortable – so I personally would choose what is easier to get in and out of and more comfortable for my loved ones.  And shuttles generally have a variety of styles and accessibility options.  But if that’s not a concern for you, then I don’t think it really matters.  Likewise, if it will make multiple runs then the capacity of the shuttle should be fine but if it is only going to make one run then you may want to prioritize capacity more.

A school bus would be so fun! I’ve never seen that in my area, but I would find it whimsical and nostalgic. Love that idea!

We hired a school bus for our wedding last month and it was great.

For the bee who was concerned about grandma not being able to climb the bus stairs, at my wedding, and all others I have been to where a bus was provided for transportation, elderly relatives did not use the bus. Family members drove them to the venue and home again afterwards.
