Here’s the deal: There is no parking at the ceremony location. We would provide shuttle bus service to the ceremony for guests.
Here is where it gets tricky, most transportation vendors I contacted have a 4 hour minimum. Ceremony and Reception location are about a 10 minute drive from each other. Could we ask guests to park at the reception location, get picked up by the bus, taken to the ceremony, and brought back to the reception? That way we would only have to pay the 4 hour minimum and folks would be able to get home on their own after the reception.
Otherwise, we would have to pay for the bus the entire day to be able to shuttle guests back to the hotel after the reception. Thoughts? Anyone have a similar situation and have suggestions?

How far is the hotel from the reception? The only wedding I’ve been to with a shuttle bus was when we were shuttled from the hotel to the wedding location and back to the hotel. Obviously this is nicer for your guests, but I think what you’ve planned is fine. Can they park overnight at the reception location? Do they have to pay for parking there? If you have any driving guests that are drinking, this could cause problems.

Any coach buses that you contact will usually book only in this 4 hour block. A typical coach bus will hold 54 passengers.
I think it’s totally fine (and very generous of you) to provide them with transportation as long as they begin by parking at the reception venue.
Just ensure you inform of this in several places (invites and a website for example) and that you let your venue coordinator know what’s happening.
I’m sure they’ll be thankful you thought of that!
Good luck 🙂

Parking at the reception location is ample and free. If we shuttle from the hotel to the ceremony then back to the hotel, guests would then have to get in their cars and drive the reception location. My concern is folks having access to their cars when the party ends so they can go home or back to the hotel.
