I need to order my guestbook fast if I have any hope of getting a custom one (my wedding’s not really October 1!)
I’m trying to decide between a framed print that people could sign, like this:
Or something like a scrapbook or notecards, that people could write a longer message on. I’m having a hard time finding a cute personalized one though.
I worry that with the print, it will be a pain to frame it and take with us every time we move and eventually it’ll gather dust rather than be something we hang. I do think they’re really cute though.
I also worry that there won’t be enough room for about 40 people to sign a print. Did you get a framed poster as a guestbook? Do you regret it? How big did it need to be to fit all your guests?

I love the idea of framed prints with wide mattes for people to sign. I feel like you will never really look at a scrapbook style one. We did a thumbprint tree and I just framed it and hung it on the wall and I love it 🙂
I know Treejewel19 had a framed photo that people signed, and she said it had lots of room for people to sign.

@loving_life: Hi! Yes we did. We had an 8×10 photo with I believe 16×20 sized matte with loads of room for people to sign. We had 130 guests total.
We definitely wanted something that would be seen and not shoved into a drawer or closet. We have it displayed in our living room and I really enjoy re-reading the messages.
@batbrain: Make sure if you do opt for a signed photo or picture to invest in museum glass. This will eliminate fading over time of the signatures and also reduces glare.

We had an engraveable guestbook that i purchased on eBay.
Everybody loved the idea of it but we encountered a few problems.
1. In dim light it was hard to see where people had already signed.
2. Some people tried to write really long messages even though the frame asked for a signature.
In retrospect i wish i had put a “tip” jar beside it (i.e. little cards that people write tips for a healthy marriage)
Here is our guestbook.

We went scrapbook, only 5 people signed it, and I don’t even know where it is now!

So we ended up getting two 11×14 prints with big borders for people to sign – one with a print of the city we’re getting married and one with all the states we’ve lived. We got them from PaperFinchDesign on Etsy and they’re really cute!

I think the scrapbook idea is really cute! I like the photo concept, but I was at a wedding that a guest signed over the face of the groom. I have a feeling that it was a frat boy buddy who didn’t realize it was going to be a decorative item for the home… if it happened in a scrapbook album on a page it wouldn’t be nearly as annoying. I also think I is better to have an attendant with the photo or book.
