Sorry to hear that. I dont understand people.  I had one couple turn in their RSVP card last week and said, I hate to say Yes on these things because you just never know what might come up.  So I’ll put yes and if that changes I’ll call your mom.

Really? I’m sorry but you don’t know if you can drive 5 hours out of town in 18 days or not?  Strange. Why not just check no and make it easier on all of us!?

we had that, but it was good reasons because of illness. we just decided to let it go and keep the seating chart as is. so what if there are a few empty seats at a table. that’s better than me having to stress out about the seating chart and changing up the escort cards.

@ vintage2010 – WOW! “because you just never know what might come up“… sooo, they basically said well if we’ve got nothing better to do we’ll come???  I would’ve told them not to bother.

My wedding is not in march but I know EXACTLY how you feel! I have people who rsvp’ed “yes” and are now telling me they can not come. Its very frusturating! But for me its a double edged sword since I wished that the guest list was smaller and we went too crazy on the list. look at it this way though! You save money on the food!! πŸ™‚

oh no! that’s terrible. Hopefully it doesn’t stress you out too much. At least they told you they wont be coming instead of just not showing up πŸ™‚

Such a bummer! πŸ™ I’m sorry.

That happened to us… 30 people did not show up who RSVP’d yes. About 12 of them let me know… but it was hard to take because we’d paid for the food already. and placed them at tables. πŸ™ Your wedding will be beautiful no matter what and hey! Now you have some extra space!

We had about 15 people not show up, a few of them called or sent a message with family but I was still annoyed about having to pay for their food.  Most were health related.  I also had an aunt and uncle who told my grandmother when she called to check if they were going to come, “We have been ill, and just don’t know what we’re going to be able to do until we wake up in the morning, but we’ll try to make it.”  Um, I called them a NO.  (And they didn’t make it.)

I feel your pain!

I had 7 people not show up. It really sucks and I was really bummed I had like a open table. (EVEN though the vendors sat and ate there.) In the long run I have come to terms w/ the not perfectness of the day. I still had tons of fun, I got married WHOO! And everyone who went said it was the best wedding they had been too in a very long time. SCORE!

So I am happy, just slightly bummed I already paid for the food.

Ms. Cheeseburger I think we have the same wedding date, and yes it’s happening to us too!  What a pain!  I still have to do the escort cards and seating charts because we tried to get replacements for all of the cancellations, after all those spots are already paid for.  So, it’s been a major pain, can’t believe people especially when it’s so close.  What’s sad too, is that the FH has far less guests and his are the ones that are canceling the most, so he is pretty bummed about the whole thing.  I’m more pissed about how inconsiderate and rude most of sideis being.  So there’s my vent.  But I feel ya!  Best of luck.  All of this will soon pass and we can focus on the exciting stuff.

@dancy- I know it was like why bother sending me the RSVP card.  And to top it off they added a guest to their card.  Aggh!

People.  They have some nerve.  I’m sorry you’re going through this BUT – you’re getting married on Saturday!

If I pay for meals and people don’t show up I’ll be ticked, but I’m making the staff box them up and having them either taken home with family or dropped off at the local food pantry. I refuse to waste food that I paid for when other people would love a good hot meal!
