So, my shower is this weekend and I am trying SO HARD not to peek at my registries. I have failed a few times. Please give me reasons that will guilt me into NOT peeking at it. I think that will be the most effective way to prevent me from looking at them at all for the rest of the week. Make them as heart-wrenching and sappy as you can. I’m not capable of doing this for myself – in fact I’ve been doing the opposite like justifying why I should look. It is BAD! HELP!

Well I don’t have anything heart-wrenching and sappy but I do hope you resist the urge. I understand the temptation but your guests are so excited to be able to surprise you on YOUR day, where you are the highlight of the day, with gifts they know you want. I love love love giving gifts and I’d be so disappointed if I knew the bride already knew what we’d all gotten her, especially if I were the one planning the event. You don’t have much longer to go, hang in there!

I wish I could give you a reason not to peak. 😉 I used to check our registries all the time! I will say that it didn’t make the shower any less special to know ahead of time what I was getting. I mean, if you register, you kinda know already. So, if you do peak, don’t beat yourself up too much.

@ Jen: Thank you THANK YOU. That is perfect! Keep ’em coming! 😉

omg – people buy stuff off your registry trusting that you won’t peek. I for one would NEVER buy something off a registry if I thought you would look to see what I bought.
how can you even consider betraying your friends’ trust like that? wow… sad.
hehe… that’s as mean as I think I can be. and I feel bad now. I might have to come back in a few minutes and edit it to be nicer.

Think about it like Christmas morning, it so fun to open presnrnts that are surprising!

Oh I’m not going to be any help because I know I would peek. So you’re not alone in being tempted 🙂 But if you really want a guilt trip…
What would Martha think? She would be SO disappointed and would probably purse her lips at you and give you a stern talking to. And personally, I find Martha Stewart terrifying so she is the last person I would want disappointed in me.
