I read a post here a while ago from a groom chastizing us brides for acting like we want our FI’s input, but then shooting it down. As I was reading the post I thought, “well, I would never do that. Maybe these other brides would do that, but not me.” The poster was referencing a suit he had bought, but his bride vetoed. He made the very valid point that he had no say in her dress, so why should she be allowed to veto his suit? I thought to myself, “Man, that woman is a bridezilla!”
So last night, Fiance and I were re-watching Casino Royale. He was making whistful comments about Daniel Craig’s tuxedo shirt, and how he had wanted one like that. When we went tuxedo shopping, I was insistent that he buy a wing-tip shirt, because that says “tuxedo” to me, while he really wanted a laydown collar. Suddenly, I realized I’m a big jerk. I made him buy a shirt he didn’t like to wear on his wedding day.
So I found the shirt he really wanted online and I’m going to buy it for him and give it to him for Christmas (a week before our wedding.) And from now on I am going to try to be more careful about listening to his input. 😛
Anyone else guilty of this?

Unfortunately my SO has talked seriously about rainbow colored suits for himself and his groomsmen. Therefore I will be going with him when he picks wedding attire out LOL. But good for you! That new shirt sounds like a good gift/idea and I’m sure your Fiance will appreciate it very much.

You’re going to make him wait 4 months? That’s so cruel…

My Fi has been really involved. He’s a planner and does a lot of events for a living with his job. I’m actually not a planner- more creative and messy. So I’m letting him take over things I dont care about (like bouts, transportation, lodging, timelines, etc.).
The one thing we both cant come to an agreement on is when to do our first dance and cake cut and if he gets to wear these super bright shoes that really dont go with our color scheme. I may just have to buy him the shoes and suck it up. (Oh, and ask our photographer to cut his shoes out of the pictures… jk!)

My Fiance has made a ton of decisions! He picked the venue (a theatre he is a board member of) and has been working ALL summer to get it ready for the wedding. He picked out both bands and the DJ, he’s helping with the center pieces, and he picked out his tux and the groomsmen. He has been wonderful.

@happyface: !!! Well, I want to wait until Christmas… but we’ll see if that happens. I get excited about these kinds of things. I doubt he’s thought about it that much. Men don’t obsess over these things like we do! When it comes it, I’ll likely end up giving it to him within hours.

Update: the shirt came in yesterday. I ordered him a replica of hte shirt Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale. Textured, front fly, french cuffs, lay down collar… I opened it and gave it to him about 30 seconds after the UPS guy came. So much for Christmas.
Anyway, Fiance was so excited! He loves the shirt and I am happy that he’s so excited to get dressed up for our wedding now!
