My wedding was this past Saturday and I just had to write a post to gush about our caterer, Furiwa and in particular, our contact Stacie. They are a little more expensive than most, but completely worth it because of their experience and professionalism. I wanted a Chinese banquet for my wedding (because of all the yummy, yummy food), but I did not want to do it at a Chinese restaurant. My sister had my wedding catered by Furiwa 11 years ago and recommended them. I ended using them not only for catering, but also for flowers and decor as well.
The planning process was very smooth. Stacie was extremely responsive to every email and phone call. Every email that I sent was immediately addressed, if only to assure me that she would be addressing my concern/request soon, which she reliably did. This was a huge point for me because one of my frustrations with vendors is unresponsiveness. A month before the wedding, we went through a detailed itinerary with her and she gave us a list of all items we would need to provide (escort cards, table numbers, programs, etc) and when we need to have them delivered. When I was concerned about transporting our DIY centerpieces the day of the wedding, she worked with the hotel staff to allow us to deliver it the night before. She asked me to provide a picture for the bridal bouquet, but since I was pretty ambivalent about it, I gave her carte blanche. She put together a gorgeous bouquet with crystals that worked with my decor perfectly.
The day of my wedding was amazing! As with all weddings, there was minor hiccups, such as the DJ showing up late (our fault), and a missing second escort card table. However, I was not aware of any of these things until the end of the evening because Stacie was on top of every situation. She coached us through the ceremony, grand entrance, and cake cutting so that our photographer would have the best angle for pictures. My Maid/Matron of Honor is an event coordinator by trade and even she commented on how phenomenal of a coordinator Stacie was.
I was told by my guests and family (who are brutally honest) that the food was delicious. It also arrived to the tables piping hot, which is a big point for me. Since my husband and I were toasting tables, we were not able to eat most of the food at our sweetheart table. Stacie had the staff pack it up and send it up to our hotel suite so that we could have a romantic dinner after the reception. It was a very thoughtful gesture.
If you are looking for a Chinese caterer in the Orange County area, I would highly recommend looking into Furiwa. They work with about a dozen hotels in the area, although Stacie did say that the DoubleTree in Santa Ana was one of her favorites because of the staff there. Don’t be turned off by the restaurant by the same name from which they operate (a little ghetto). Everything was elegant and more beautiful than I could have imagined.
