Hi! So to start off, my ring is not from Tianyu so I can’t speak for timing/quality of those. Price wise, I think Tianyu tends to be on the lower end for moissanite rings. I also would be really worried about getting the specs right on a custom ring. BUT other posters here have had GREAT experiences with them and they have beautiful rings. @motherbee33 I think has the rose gold solitaire you’re talking about!

My ring is from Moissanite Co, which tends to get a lot of bad press but I personally had a great experience with them. And especially if you’re looking for a solitaire, I think they would be just fine. Also with them, you will definitely get the ring before Christmas. Their rose gold, according to their website, does not contain nickel. Their white gold does, but their rose gold does not. What do you think about this setting?

Keep in mind that setting would require a slightly curved wedding band to fit flush, so unless your girlfriend likes a gap between the e-ring and band, she couldn’t just go with any straight wedding band.

Also, if you choose to go custom, go with Tianyu and NOT MoissaniteCo. Most of the MoCo horror stories tend to be involving custom pieces, so as much as I love my MoCo ring, I wouldn’t risk a custom piece with them.

I personally don’t like the Hearts and Arrows cut as much as a typical round brilliant, I really like the shattered look that a generic round brilliant moissanite has. H&A looks a bit more like a diamond, IMO. But really, you really can’t go wrong either way! If you don’t want it to be too white, steer clear of the F1/Forever One stones.

As far as price, my ring is a 7.5mm/1.5 carat round brilliant MoissaniteCo moissanite, with a pave band set in palladium. In total, my ring was $1009. Depending on how big you want the stone, the setting I included the link for ranged from $475 to $1315.

Good luck and congratulations!

guynamedbry :  Of course!

I don’t think there is a risk of getting a greenish or blueish tinged stone from MoissaniteCo. That happened with a lot of the older types of moissanite, but moissanite has definitely come a long way since then.

My ring has their most basic option for stone, and there is no green. The MoissaniteCo brand (which is what I have) all fall in the D-G range of color. F1 tends to look a little chalk white to me, and fall in the D-F range. So not much of a difference, really.

Here is my ring for reference: 90D09A05-21D7-4B37-9674-2CD067ACD750

guynamedbry :  I have a MoissaniteCo ring as well and love it! I have the F1, which I think is stunning. As the PP said, I don’t think the green color issues are a problem anymore.

guynamedbry :  Congratulations! I agree that the technology to create moissanite has improved. If you don’t mind, do you know what your budget is? Why is she interested in moissanite in particular? Also, what is your girlfriend’s style? (Is she more classic/minimalistic, vintage, fashionable, etc?)

I don’t have a Tianyu ring, but I do have a couple from Moissanite & Co. My most recent one is an Old European Cut stone (not Forever One, but the Moissanite & Co brand) set in a six prong rose gold setting, and it doesn’t lean green at all. The colour is beautiful, OEC tend to have a bit of warmth but it’s still very white. The rose gold, though prominent since it’s six prongs, doesn’t affect the colour in any way that I can tell. I can’t speak to Tianyu, but thought I’d let you know that I’m very happy with the colour of my stones from M&Co!

guynamedbry :  heres my moissanite, it’s a forever 1 by Charles & Colvard, oval cut 8×6 mm and colourless (which is DEF). It usually looks grey but it can look very white in certain lights. The first/oldest moissanite did have green hue but not the Forever 1 stones.

Also if I was going with rose gold band I would go for the near colourless option (just in case the stone looks too “white” if it were colourless).

You can order loose stones from MoissaniteCo to inspect them and make sure you like the color and cut (easy to return, restocking fee small to nonexistent). I prefered the MoissaniteCo brand cut over a C&C F1, but I was looking at a different stone shape. If you get loose stones, you can have something set by a local jeweler perhaps. But I wouldn’t wait too long, as a custom ring order can take 4-6 weeks.

I can’t speak to a entire ring from MoCo, but that might be a good option if they have a premade design you like.

Rose gold in general shouldn’t have nickel, as it’s a gold/copper alloy. But you can always ask individual suppliers to make sure.

If you go the MoCo route I STRONGLY suggest asking them about their new AGS 000 H&A round. If I got any stone from them, this would be it hands down. I personally don’t agree with their business ethics, but if you don’t go custom or have any pave in the setting, you should be safe. They have several solitaires that are modifications of the Tiffany setting, and the new H&A is priced the same as their certified C&C stones. I’m not a fan of C&C so I wouldn’t recommend them.

Tianyu would probably be about $450 plus shipping, which is $35 if you get 14k rose gold. They have F colored stones, and then G-H. I’m not super color sensitive and I want mine to look like a diamond I could realistically afford, so I’m getting G-H, which still faces up quite white.

I suggest getting on the Tianyu CADs board. I believe carmenlovesyou has a rose gold setting. So does jjbishae I think, but hers is on the giant eBay thread if I’m not mistaken.

Lots of Bees willing to help as needed though! Good luck!

Also, Tianyu CADs take a couple days, once they’re approved production is about 10 days and shipping takes about a week. If you hurry, you should be able to get it before Christmas as long as they don’t get backed up with a holiday rush.

If you get on their IG and choose a setting they’ve already made and forward them the link, I’m sure it’ll take much less time.
