@EveryUserNamesTaken:  Beautiful ring! Wow! I agree with the other posters about getting it custom made. We just got our custom rings back and they are exactly what we wanted. I am amazed that he was able to make my vision a reality and it is so unique and perfect. Our designer is a friend of my fiancé so I’m not sure what his fees are normally, but I think he’s considerably lower than other jewelry I’ve seen of that quality. He also made all of our pieces by melting down materials we already had which saved even more money!! I’m happy to share his info if you want it. I wish I was able to tell you how to look for someone in your own area!

Check out gabriel and co. They can do any ring they have in any color gold you want. We were very close to getting a yellow gold halo ring with a plain band like you described from them.

@Dialysate:  I didn’t think BN made custom settings.

@akirasan:  It’s a standard setting, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it in yellow gold as opposed to 14k white gold, 18k white gold, or platinum. There are plenty of rings that say “call to order” if ring size is greater than 7 or 8. I think I misspoke, wouldn’t call that “custom” necessarily.

@Dialysate:  Ahh okay. I just thought it was different in the US or something, lol. I called them once to make a custom setting and they said they don’t do them which was why I was like “WHAT!!!!” ๐Ÿ˜›

The James Allen rings PP posted are great options. Aside from that, I’d definitely go custom. Most jewellers can work with your budget and you get a closer look at the materials. You’ll also get major points for designing your fiancee-to-be a one of a kind ring ๐Ÿ™‚ My Fiance had my setting made, working with a local jeweller, and I couldn’t be happier. He took pictures of rings I liked and incorporated all the elements I liked and excluded the ones I didn’t.

The first ring you found is from Kate Szabone on etsy. I was super obsessed with it for a long time. It’s GORGEOUS. I vote you get her that one!

As a custom designer and general fan of halo designs; I can tell you that you have some alternatives beyond calling a commercial retailer and asking them to do something out of the ordinary for you; most will not.  Not because they do not want to, but rather they cannot due to policy, production, etc.

I have to say your wisest alternative would be have a custom piece commissioned.  That way, you can pick out all of your favorite attributes, pix, sketches, etc; submit them to a custom designer with your criteria, and have the exact ring that you have in mind made to order.  Don’t go with the first custom designer you find, however, if time is of the essence, I suggest looking on Etsy (as many before me have recommended).

The ring you posted originally would be a fairly simple custom piece.  And, being that it’s gold, not platinum, your looking to pay less.  So that is good news, right?  If you are set on yellow gold on the halo, and the center diamond or stone is white, as another bee pointed out previously, the diamond will yellow a bit.  My suggestion is a white gold bezel with the halo & band in yellow gold…you will get the added benefit of protection and security which the bezel provides, it will accentuate the diameter of the diamond and make it appear whiter & brighter in contrast with the yellow gold, and this way, you get the yellow gold ring that you’re dreaming of without compromising the diamond’s color.  Generally large retailers will not do these sort of customizations–however, they can easily be done.

So, make list, gather some pix, be specific in your expectations, & find yourself a custom designer who can help to make your vision into a reality.

I don’t know if you’ve found one yet or not, but my fiance got mine at Intercontinental Jewelers in Houston. They did a custom job for us and set it in yellow gold. It’s beautiful. I’m sure they could arrange for something with a plain band (that’s what I was orginially planning on, actually). Perhaps if you’re not in the south, you can somehow order it from them? http://www.intercontinentaljewelers.com/

Seriously though, they are great and are incredibly reasonable with their pricing. It would be worth the freight to have it shipped securely to you. My ring appraised at $8,500 and my FH got it for $3,500.

Hope this helps if you haven’t had any luck! Hopefully you’re engaged by now though! Best luck!
