I personally don’t like the look of it, but I can’t imagine it would be comfortable to shave it.

I kept reading “black hair” and I was so confused as to why anyone would shave someone just because they were born with black hair.

It depends on the color of the hair IMO.  If it’s really dark and noticable, then it has to go.  Blonde/light hairs don’t bother me at all.

I admit I once stopped picking up calls from a very handsome, perfectly nice guy, with the most mesmerizing, sparkling green eyes… because on our last date, he bent down to pick up a book from a low shelf, and his sweater opened to reveal heavy hair on the back of his shoulder. I… just… couldn’t.

Every guy I have ever dated long term has had shoulders as smooth as silk, naturally. One had a tiny soft blond patch on the small of his lower back, but you could hardly notice it, so it was fine.

My DH is hairy all over. I once said I would never date someone that was hairy. Now I really don’t care at all. I’d never make him shave it.

My fiance is a very hairy guy, but I wouldn’t expect him to shave. I don’t know when this preoccupation with body hair came about but I think it’s pretty weird. I think it’s crazy that the new standard for women seems to be hairless from the neck down, and it seems to be going this way for men too.

DH is the first guy I’ve been with that had back hair. To be honest, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s just hair and no different than anything on their arms or legs.

    Yuck.

Okay, my slighly more eloquent response is that I find it gross and a huge turn off. I am lucky FI doesn’t have hair in any places I consider non-standard 😛

Back hair is a turn off to me. I would ask my SO to wax it off if he had a hairy back.

I used to go out with a guy who had a massive tattoo of the Virgin Mary on his back. He had back hair too, I gave him the nick name ‘Hairy Mary’

He didn’t like that very much so we broke up. Pretty funny now that I think about it.

Lol, FI has a hairy back, but I grew up among much hairier Persian men so it doesn’t bug me.  He does ask me to shave it if he knows he’ll be on display at the pool though.

I’d like to think I’m a natural at shaving backs.

@hyperJulie:  I just always had a preference for very low body hair, on men and on myself. Instinctively.

I have no issues with groomed pubic hair, which I see as similar to head hair (as in, I expect some, and greatly prefer it to baldness), but if humans had no hair under their heads except their pubes, that’d be great for me. Not a big fan of men’s chest hair either, indifferent to their leg and armpit hair. I have never felt my preferences were “on trend.” The trend was always for hairier men and less hairy women than I liked (yes, less hairy than even I liked, since the trend was that even pubes should be removed on women! Which I think is…unappealing, to say the least.)

I assume other people just prefer people to look more furry, instinctively. Goodness knows I think furry dogs and cats are the cutest things ever… it just doesn’t translate to human fur, for some reason. Maybe if it was softer and smoother with better patterns of coloration? 😉

I resent that modern society tries to change everyone into a hairless rat.  Leave the hair alone.  Never had a problem with it.
