So the gym scale tells me I’m 10 pounds lighter than the scale I have at home. I like this new number much better! I know I have a pretty cheap scale here, should I assume the gym zeros their scale or could it be worse since so many people are using it?

Is there a way you could find a 3rd scale? That might help you figure out which direction you should be leaning. Also, make sure you are testing it at the same time of day. Don’t weigh yourself at home in the morning and then at night at the gym. They will be different! Even your own scale will be different between morning and evening.

Take a 10 lb weight, or some weight to the scale at the gym and see if it’s accurate!

Aw man, I had the exact opposite problem yesterday when I went to the gym and found my scale at home is 10lbs light. Argh! I went to the gym and gained 10lbs grr…
I second Sundrop put a 10lb weight on the scale to see if it’s accurate! What a great idea!

I basically hate scales because they’re NEVER the same anywhere. Ever. Arrg. In that kind of situation, I assume it’s correct. 🙂
