Here, many women have never been to one at that age.  They are a specialist, so unless there’s a specific reason to see one, someone wouldn’t.  I’ve never seen a cardiologist, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

Depends on your insurance.  My yearly gyno check ups are free through my insurance company.  If you don’t have insurance, you will just have to call the office.  

You should start going annually to have a pap and breast exam…then mammograms at 30+ years old. 

You may also want to look into your options for birth control if you want to prevent pregnancy.

sarahroby:  Are you in the states? I’ve had a couple different insurance plans and usually I have to pay $15-$25 copay for the visit but the insurance covers the rest.
