The difference between G, H, and I will probably be negligible, honestly.  I think it will be stunning with either color and will look just fine in rose gold.  if you’re concerned, you can ask the jeweler about possibly making just the prongs out of white gold.  That’s a common practice to a) help the stone look slightly bigger and b)sometimes can help to offset a little yellowness.

I suggest going over to Pricescope and looking at threads. There are a LOT of larger diamonds in lower colors and honestly, even in white gold a lot of them face up really white. Even as low as I and J. It all depends on the stone. Good luck!

Here is a 1.47ct round I color in rose gold.  Honestly if it were GIA certified I think it would be more like a J.  But it faces up super white, especially in natural light.  The only time I notice the warmth is from the side in flourescent lighting.  Pears are much different than round cuts, and you’re looking at a bigger size, so I would personally not go lower than an I.

Heres mine! It’s an F in rose gold and depending on the lighting sometimes it looks super warm toned and others it looks white white! Hope this helps!

I think that pears may show more warmth than their round conterparts, but I could be wrong on that so someone jump in if I am, but here is my I colour stone 1.7 carat in rose gold and i don’t notice any yellow it in it myself!

My mom has a GIA K and omgosh it is the most beautiful stone I have ever EVER seen. Its a 1.74 carat round, but my gosh it is a stunning stone. Cut plays a huge role with any stone. I think even a J will be beautiful, ESPECIALLY in rose gold. In pears the tip can show more color so just be aware of that, but then again J is still a great color. I think I read somewhere that the most common color purchased in diamonds is the H,I,J. Personally I would rather have a little color and a larger stone. A 2 carat pear will be so big and beautiful. Good luck. I hope you share with us what you end up getting her 🙂

I have a 1.5 ct round diamond that is J in color and set in rose gold with white gold prongs.  I think it looks pretty white most of the time.  I can see some warmth too sometimes, but it’s nothing bad. It has an excellent cut so it sparkles like crazy!

frankyfro :  get her a G color . Bees posting photos of there rounds in the I-J Colors will not compare to a pear cut diamond. Pears show A LOT more color than a round diamond so bees posting pictures of there beautiful rings will not help you It will only confuse you.  I suggest you start a new thread asking bees to show you photos of pear shaped diamonds so you can see the difference. I would not go below a G color , An H-I-J will be so yellow and it’ll be so noticable even with a rose gold setting…

sollyb :  you are not wrong , pears show way more color , Rounds are more forgiving when it comes to the color scale , Pears on the other hand are the complete opposite , I would never recommend buying below a G color for a pear. They are beautiful stones but for an E ring , definitely up the color

frankyfro :  G color , pears will look yellow when you go into H-I-J and it will not flatter the stone at all!

sollyb :  Yes you are 100% right I wanted a pear necklace with a halo and I was okay with getting a G-H color because it was a pendant but for an engagement ring I would have prioritized the color for sure!

mines diamonds a 2.48 carat I coloured stone in rose gold. And though you occassionally see the warmth its never yellow! I think the rose gold makes it look lighter

frankyfro :  It depends on the cut. I have a J color with high clarity in rose gold and it looks pretty white. Even when it’s not looking bright white it’s completely clear and crisp.
