- Wedding: October 2009
Hi there ladies-(apology upfront-this is LONG)
It’s been such a productive spring break, I feel like I’ve gotten so much done and just had to share about my woo-hoo moments with those who will TOTALLY understand. My wedding date is exactly 6 months from next Friday. Fiance is so excited and keeps texting me-we had a great visit for 5 nights at the beginning of my spring break and I’m so full of love and wedding stuff that I can hardly stand myself!
Okay, let me start at the very beginging…we went looking at one of my favorite consignment shops when I was in SC this past visit and I found a PERFECT flowergirl dress for my daughter (who is one of my 5 1/2 year old twins) it’s ivory, organza with some satin on it, understated but pretty, & just a bit big on her now, but with a sash and an easy alteration to take up the shoulders if it is still a bit big-it was a STEAL at $29.50! I also found a navy blue jacket for my son (who is the other twin) for $12.50-can’t beat that! The guys are wearing khaki pants with navy jackets, so I was thrilled to find one for the little man at such a great price.
I also decided on a wedding gift for David. I was going to get him a watch, well, I snooped around a bit this past visit and you guessed it, he has a watch. Actually, he has two watches. So much for that idea. I was at one of my favorite jewelry stores (the antique store that specializes in estate jewelry where we got my wedding band) and had an ah-ha moment. I’m getting him a signet ring! It is PERFECT. I know he’d like a right hand ring, he often comments on other fellows right hand rings, and I found the perfect one in one of the catalogues! It is yellow gold with a sort of square brushed gold top and they are going to put an M on there for his last name (well, our last name) I think my Fiance will love it AND it didn’t break the bank!
Now, onto the rehearsal dinner-we had it booked at a funky little restaurant on the square (I live in a small town in Georgia with a renovated downtown area-2 blocks on each side of the centrally located historical courthouse is full of neat little shops, restaurants, a couple of salons, etc.) Anyway, we had our dinner booked at one of these restaurants that has a funky, shabby chic atmosphere with casual dining that will perfectly compliment our shabby chic themed reception. Well-due to a booking snafu-they double booked our rehearsal dinner! The other bride was scheduled first so they let me know and offered to cater it at no additional cost at an alternative location. I was ticked because finding an alternative location was going to be very difficult and we booked it so far in advance, but this restaurant is popular and the other rehearsal dinner was booked first. So…I’ve been looking and looking. After discussion and mentionings, the manager at the Hampton Inn asked me if I had looked at their conference room….um…NO. Rehearsal dinner at the Hampton Inn conference room? Not going to happen. Well….let me tell you…I am now eating those words. It is very pretty, the colors are warm golds and dark woods, we have the room and the adjoining patio area, so seating inside for 40 and outside for 28-it’s going to be perfect. October weather here is so mild (mid 60s usually) and the area is so pretty, even outside with lights in the trees and topiaries in the conference room. I am beyond relieved and actaully, I think it will be better! I had been all excited because we were going to have the entire restaurant to ourselves, and this was a major cramp in that style, but the hotel will be seriously decorated for fall, so all I have to do is some table stuff and we’re done! I called the gal who is doing my reception linens, no problem to tack on the linens for the rehearsal dinner! 🙂 I found some perfect hurricanes for the patio tables today at the DOLLAR STORE that will be lovely on the patio-furniture out there is wrought iron and earthy colored tile! I found cut glass hurricanes for inside, combined with some of that table scatter glitter in fall leaf shapes in dark gold, burgundy and green, as well as some candles-I found some copper colored organza for table toppers on clearance at another store…I’m so excited!!!! This wedding planning has gone so smoothly, that I am just about holding my breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. The added bonus is that out of town family members and wedding guests who are staying in the blocked rooms won’t have to drive anywhere after dinner with a full belly and maybe a drink or two in them. It couldn’t have worked out any better!
Sorry this is so long, but I don’t want to bore my friends to death with all of this and only you girls understand how elated you feel when wedding things just seem to fall into place!!!!!
Thanks for "listening"!
