What time of the day was it?  I guess it’s not that surprising to me because it was during the week day, but I’m sorry only four people showed up out of thirty!

@BrightYellowGaloshes: Awww…are you OK with it? Did the invitations request an RSVP or a Regrets Only?

I had 7 no shows for my daughter’s shower and I was livid. I didn’t care if they couldn’t come, but for God’s sake, respond first! I paid for meals for people who didn’t care enough to let me know in advance.

My MIL’s threw me a shower in their home town and had a very small turnout, I think there were 8 guests total besides the three of us. They originally invited like 40 people too! I felt bad for my DH because it was really more for him than it was for me. We had a great time and it was intimate like you said. I was happy! Although, we had to fly out there and it was like 3 weeks before our wedding so a little stressful.

I’m guessing it was because it was a weekday, plus the time.  A lot of people don’t get off work until 5 p.m. and it would be rushing it to get there on time.

Sorry that happened to you, but I would try not to take it personally.

@BrightYellowGaloshes: Hm, 5:30 isn’t a bad time, but I guess it depends on what time people are getting off from work and such.  I’m also used to being invited to showers on the weekend.  But I know it doesn’t HAVE to be on the weekend.  I think that may play a part as to why there were no shows.  But if you’re happy with the result, then yay!  I wouldn’t mind it so much either.  I can’t stand too much commotion at times.

I work till 6pm.  No way I would of made it.  And most of my friends get off at 5 or 5:30.  Depending on where it was there is a ton of traffic so travel times go up.  Plus it was on a Thursday.  Very uncommon.  Sorry to hear that though.  That would be a nightmare for me.

I work until 5 and don’t get home before 6.  It would be very stressful for me to rush to a bridal shower right after work.  I am also usually just exhausted after work. I would probably also not attend.  But I would send a gift or card.

I think with a weekday shower, it was more likely to happen. Many people don’t get off until at least 5PM from work.

I threw a bridal shower and hardly anyone came. I was disappointed because I spent a lot of money and time planing and stressing over (that is another story though). The rbide told me there was going to be tons of people there. It was a Honey Do shower, so minus the GMs and BMs there were like 4 other guests. It was horrible! Total maybe 15-20 people (it that many!) and I was told there would be 75-100!

I was just devistated and it wasn’t even my shower!

5:30 on a weekday is pretty early for a shower. As milesbella said, I wouldn’t take it personally, though. I’m assuming most couldn’t attend due to work constraints. Sorry that happened to you 🙁

I’m hoping the same thing doesn’t happen to me. Ours will be on a Saturday in the afternoon but the people invited are almost all from at least 45 minutes away. It was really the best central spot though, because they’re all from different directions.

We’re still deciding on a time. Thinking about around 1 or 2.

Yeah, I’ve honestly never heard of a shower on a weekday. 🙁
