Had a false test

Is there a reason you think you’re pregnant since you haven’t missed your period yet?

Typically, the hormones that would cause you to be late for your period are the same that would make a pregnancy test show up as postive. If you test too early you could get whats called a false negative as your body hasn’t had time to build up the amount of hormones it takes to show positive on a pregnancy test.

(Other bees correct me if i’m wrong on that one)

If your AF doesn’t show today or tomorrow you can always take a FRER which should be more accurate, but there are lots of reasons why your period could be late that aren’t related to pregnancy.

Christine2 :  If you know it was early to take it, I would take another. Best time is in morning, your first bathroom trip.

Christine2 : Some pregnanct tests say you can find out 6 days early, however even if you conceive and implant late, you’re not going to get a positive test.  You typically get a positive test about 2-4 days after implantation, because only then does your body produce enought HCG for the test to read.  You could have implanted anywhere for 6 days after you ovulated to 12 days after you ovulated.  This is why most doctors recommend you wait until you missed your period.  If you implanted, your HCG levels double approximately every two days.

If you didn’t confirm the day you ovulated, I recommend just waiting until you miss your period.

slomotion :  is right. You may have tested too early, that’s why ideally you want to wait until at least the day your AF is due bc by then your body will likely have enough of the pregnancy hormone to test positive (and you won’t waste tests, or second guess results).

If your AF doesn’t show today, take a test first thing tomorrow morning.

I think you’re confusing the terminology. You didn’t have a “false” test, that would be if you got a positive and it was really negative. So far it looks as though tests are negative, so it’s safe to assume you are not pregnant until you either a) get your period, or b) finally get a positive test.

Without knowing when you ovulated or how long your cycles are, it’s almost impossible for anyone to say if you could potentially be pregnant. There could be any number of reasons why your period is late. For years I was a pretty standard 28 day cycle, after we started to TTC that number flexes between 28-31 days. Likewise I always used to start my period in the morning, first thing. Now it seems like it comes more in the afternoon.

I’d suggest testing tomorrow first thing with first morning urine. If it’s negative wait for your period.

I think you’re missing using the word “false”. I would wait until tomorrow to test.

Christine2 :  I will say from personal experience a day or two can make a huge difference.  I was 13dpo when I took my pregnancy test with our son and it was negative and I was positive I was not pregnant that cycle because if you were pregnant it would have shown up positive by that point.  Three days later I got my positive test at 16dpo which is super late
