That’s really interesting.  I never had mine out and never really had enough problems to get them out.  I did have a really bad infection once but it cleared up on its own.

I hope you feel better soon!

I got my tonsils out last year at age 21. I had problems with strep throat and sore throats since age 7 so I should’ve gotten them out A LOT sooner. I finally got them out when they were getting swollen and painful at least once a month and having nasty white stuff come out of them. The Dr that finally removed them said said my tonsils were four times the size they should’ve been and filled with pus (eww!!!) I can’t believe I suffered with my tonsils for 14 years, my life is so much better without them, I barely get sick anymore.

The pain was bad for me but it wasn’t the worse pain I’ve been in (kidney infection and kidney stone wins that) The scabs are so disgusting! I was gagging on them because they’d be halfway off and halfway in my throat. Plus it made my mouth taste horrible! After they fell off the healing process went by faster. It took me about two weeks to get back to semi-normal though.

I feel for you but I think it is wrong to be advising parents to go against their doctors’ advice. The vast majority of people never need anything done with their tonsils.
