Yesterday I had a huge wake up call. My power got shut off because I couldn’t afford to pay the bill. I’ve been struggling to support my Boyfriend or Best Friend and I on one income since he lost his job. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m in over my head. With that said, I also realized we’re not in a good place to get married right now. As much as I love my Boyfriend or Best Friend and as much as I want to spend the rest of our lives together, it’s just not in the cards right now. So, I guess as of right now I am no longer “waiting”. I’m going to take it day by day, and bill by bill, until we’re in a better place financially. Thank you guys for everything, it’s been a huge help reading everyone’s stories and advice to keep me from going insane while I was waiting for my Boyfriend or Best Friend to propose. Hopefully someday soon we’ll be in a better place and I can continue going crazy waiting because truthfully, I would rather be waiting than be where I am now.

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. I know what it’s like to support your SO. I did it for 2 years while he was finishing school adn one year while he had a crappy min wage job in a gap year between finishing undergrad and going into a technical program. I hope that this situation turns around for you soon. I’m sure it will come faster than you think and hopefully your SO finds work soon. Don’t give up on marriage just yet though 😉

I’m also sorry to hear about your situation. You’re a smart woman, and someday (hopefully soon) you’ll be better able to enjoy an engagement and wedding. I’m sure you deserve it.

Yup, I totally agree about your situation. Sometimes, you are in a situation where the priority is not getting married, but being able to support yourself. It should come when it’s right.
