- Wedding: October 2013
Background: I’ve been at my current job for about four years as a limited benefit employee, meaning I work full time without any benefits. Not many full time positions have opened up because of budgeting. In May I applied for a full time opening and placed in the top 3 but was not offered the job. They kept the list of top 5 and called me this week for another opening.
The first interview I had in May I rocked. I felt very positive about it, but did not get the job. Today’s interview was not so-hot, so I’m hoping because I feel like I did not well I will get the job.. lol. Their was a panel of three and I got good vibes from 2/3 so I’m hoping I made a good impression..
I’m not feeling so confident because at the end of the interview she asked if there was anything I would like to add. I told her that since beginning my current job I have taken it upon myself to learn as much as possible about my department and have acquired many certifications to show that I am valuable employee, and that I try to make myself a well rounded employee. The lady who I thought was not feeling me responded by saying that if I get the job I’m applying for all of the certification, schooling I’ve done will be wasted effort because it does not apply to the position. I was a little dumbfounded – it was not the reply I expected. But I told her that I did not agree with her because no schooling or training is wasted effort, I received a degree from it and the experience I can apply to any position and it shows that I’m willing to learn as much as possible to be a good employee.
It’s not my dream job, but it is a permanent job.. I hope I didn’t blow it! The only upside is regardless if I get it or not I still have a job.. so that is something to be happy about. Ok vent over I feel a little better.
