I have been to three winter weddings — my sister was 1/1 and I have two cousins (one was NYE and another was 12/19 or 20? I can’t remember now)

For my sisters wedding (boston seaport) it was actually warmer on 1/1 than on the day she was suppose to get married on in late april (wedding moved bc Brother-In-Law was going to miltiary)! It had snowed a few days before so there was still that pretty winter wonderland look but it was actually in the 50s! So you just never know… she was anti- christmas theme and did more of a navy and silver look

my cousins on the other hand was in New Husband and it was a big snow storm expected the day after so most people just took off a little early the next day (we live about 2 hrs away) and skipped out of the day after brunch. I don’t remember any issues with the NYE wedding… I do remember the church being absolutely beautiful with all the christmas decorations though! what a great way to get a bang for your buck..she went all in to the christmas theme and the girls wore red! it was really pretty contrast to her white

They all shared the same fur stole (something borrowed!) so that was a nice little thing to have and use to keep warm and look very glam with

Snow is so pretty and I love sparkly glittery decor that seems to go so well with winter weddings! I really wanted to have tree branches with candles for my decor but since I did a fall wedding it just didn’t “go” with the feel of things but you can definitely rock it for winter!

I wish we had a real winter here, in Israel ๐Ÿ™‚

It is such a great time to get married – photos will be romantic and unique, everything (from dresses and decorations to vendors) will cost less, than in the season.

Prettysmile40:  I have to be honest… for most people the time around christmas is VERY busy. For my sister it was a fluke thing that 1/1 happened to be a Saturday night and since it was the night after NYE most people were free. For the others we knew far in advance (over a year) so that we could schedule around it.

It all depends on your friends and family, how many people you are inviting, your religion (obviously christians who celebrate christmas are the most “busy” around end of dec)

Are most people local? would it be a big event or more low key? I guess I would feel out some of my VIP guests and see how things look for them? What about your venue etc? It would be a very very very lucky thing to be able to plan an event in Dec/Jan that last minute because halls, catering, bands etc are all busy with holiday events and NYE celebrations

Prettysmile40:  Our venue is the Norton Country Club in Norton, MA; 15 minutes from Foxborough and about an hour from Newport, RI.  We have a pretty strict budget, so we were impressed with the pricing of their “Sweet Serenity” package (that has a 125 person minimum though, so much larger than what you’ve mentioned).  In the spirit of full disclosure here, I loved the coordinator they had when we signed- I’ve been a little underwhelmed by the new one.  I’m usually a pretty positive person though, so I’m sure it’ll be fine!

I’ll have to post some of my inspiration pics for you soon… I think you’ve already seen some great ones!

I’d say if you’re going for it, you should book soon.  We saw a lot of venues fill up in the last few weeks when we were looking for our rehearsal dinner.  I don’t want to put any pressure on you, but if you’re ready- go for it!

Prettysmile40:  We’re planning a November wedding in the most north western point of Wales. We have really unpredicable weather, but we’re hoping for a crisp, frosty day.

We both hate the summer and cannot stand heat. Also my hair is mega curly, so when it’s hot, I’m a poofball of frizz.

Our colours are Navy and Champagne, and I’m thinking pinecones with tips painted in metallic blue/champagne/gold colours with gypsophelia and roses for decorations and flowers.

I’m doing a Christmas wedding as well, 12/13/14. There’s a huge pass between our out of state friends and family and us but they’re just going to leave a day early in case anything happens. We are aware that some might not make it but we will just celebrate with whoever does!
