Last week I posted on the bee about my dress woes. My mom’s dream was to see me in traditional all over lace. I took her dress shopping and she fell in love with an a line lace gown with a high illusion neckline. I got caught up in her excitement and she purchased it for me on the spot. I’ve been secretly upset for months because I just don’t feel beautiful in the gown. It is very very pretty on its own, but it does not flatter my petite figure. I am 5’3 and have a small frame, I felt swallowed up in lace. I didn’t intend on showing my fiance but I was feeling really down and showed him a picture.. He was not happy! That made my dress anxiety worse.
What I didn’t mention was that I had originally tried on a BLUSH ballgown with a fitted, crystal embroidered bodice. I loved it but my mom immediately shut it down because it was not traditional. I have thought about it several times these last few months but shrugged it off as silly. Brides wear white, right??
Well, today my fiance and I went to see if my original dress could be altered to flatter me better. (Yes I brought him, he is my partner, my team mate, and my support system! We are not superstitious) The seamstress and salon manager were trying to show me some alterations that could be done, but ultimately it seemed that they could not fix it to my liking. The salon manager turned to me and told me she had a dress in mind for me that was a sample. She asked if I was ready to look at other gowns and i said YES. She pulled the blush ballgown! I felt so beautiful, so bridal, and my fiance was so happy. Here are the photos… The first is my mom’s pick, the second is mine. Please keep in mind that the dress is a size 12 and I wear a 6-8, so the bodice is going to need to be taken in a lot (the seamstress can do this)….even with the clip it was loose. Anyway, im so much happier! I feel like a princess! It also goes with my romantic spring theme. I hope you ladies like it!

Are you KIDDING ME? No question. Second dress. BAM!

omg that is the exact word I would use to describe the first gown..dumpy. I am going to sell it because I think it would look much better on another woman who is taller with a more elongated torso. It just sat on me all wrong and even with alterations it still would have only been “okay” for my figure.

HOLY CRAP THE SECOND ONE IS SO MUCH BETTER ON YOU.
The first I was like “hmm a bit dumpy but she probably just isn’t a particularly curvy girl”
The second I was like “HOLY SHIT JESSICA RABBIT AND TAYLOR SWIFT HAD A LOVE CHILD”
