I think you can buy/get a copy of the ultrasound on disk.  You may have to bring one with you or buy one there at the office.  My daughters OB gives each patient the first one but you have to remember to bring it back to each visit so they can add the next ultrasound.  See if your dr does that.  Then you can go back and look at every picture without missing anything.

Cait2007 :  I would be pretty bummed too! My doctor used her little handheld thing and showed me “my baby” at about 5 weeks just to confirm I was pregnant. I didn’t see anything. It just looked like a marbled grey area, with some lighter and darker sections, but I smiled and pretended like I saw it too. I totally got back in my car and cried because I didn’t see my baby and was VERY upset about it.

I got a full ultrasound at 7w5d and it looked like a bean, but at least I could decipher the “baby” part. Not much to see – it had little flappers that are it’s legs and arms, but it definitely didn’t look like a baby. It also didn’t really move – just sat there.

Now, at 16 weeks, we did the sex ultrasound to find out if it was a girl or boy and this was the first one that I was like “OMG! Look at his face! Look at his foot! Watch him move!!!” because you can actually see all of those things then! That one was really exciting for me and my husband.  Same with the 20 week ultrasound – sooooooo much more to see! We even got to see fingers and lips!

You’ll get to go back and see the little thing soon! I’m sorry you didn’t get to see anything this time, though!

Cait2007 :  humm… Strange!

It is normal for them to ask you to pee if you’re further along, but not in the first few weeks. Actually the technician I saw said it was a great thing that my bladder was so full otherwise I could have gone home without any concrete results.

See if you can ask for a different technician. Don’t be afraid to do so if you didn’t feel confortable with the first one 🙂 good luck!
