mmgroom :  oo very interesting! Thank you.  Go to have to look into them for sure! So you think it’s as good as the C&C F1 H&A?

On Tianyu’s website they don’t seem to mention H&A, did you have to ask for it specifically. We have bought 3 cheap Chinese phones from Alibaba and they have been great. We also have an electric table we bought for $800 from (would have been $3000 AUD) that has lasted great  so I’m def open to the Chinese option… Thanks everyone 🙂

bliblob :  when I went into Alibaba, I found their page, and just started communicating with them.  I requested the h&a, they said they could definitely do it.

And yes, I’ve actually had the good Fortune of comparing it side by side with the c&c h&a, because my cousin is also proposing to his gf.  Look near identical, though mine is clearer because it’s an e to his f in clarity.

bliblob :  you just have to be careful. I didn’t get lucky like him did. I purchased 2 loose stones from them. I was extremely underwhelmed. I asked for a H&A cut like C&C F1 H&A and they look nothing like it. I spoke to them again and she was very apologetic and will do a refund or an exchange. I just sent them back. I’m super worry they might not get there because I’ve heard the postal to China is kind of corrupt.

mmgroom :  They did a glamour shots of your ring, haha. very pretty:D

bliblob :  My big worry is that the loose stones won’t get to them safe, and I’ll be out on almost $300 (2 loose stones + shipping). I’ve heard about people getting good stones from them, so hopefully I was just unlucky. She did tell me she was going to talk to her manager and QC and find out what happened. That they’ll glady do a refund or exchange. So I’ll give them, that they have great customer service when you don’t receive the correct products. You just got to make sure you are getting what you ask for because the postal back to China is a risk and you could be out of some cash.

luckyrabbit :  let us know how you go. I read a bit more about them and am tempted to give them aago given the price difference and C&C seems overpriced especially given some have said they have issues with quality control anyway. i’m worried that I wouldn’t even know if the stone is rubbish. Was it easy to tell? I’ve looked at quite a well cut few diamonds on blue Nile etc and am familiar with the H&A cut. I also ordered a loupe for $2 off eBay haha ..

bliblob :  I’ve had a C&C F1 H&A and I loved it. One had a dark spot in the middle, but the replacement stone they sent me to look at was gorgeous. I should have purchased it. I’ve also bought cheap Indian moissanites on eBay. You can tell if the quality is nice or not. So far the C&C F1 H&A was the prettiest I’ve seen. I could tell the ones Tianyu sent me wasn’t great. The color had yellow tint to it, not much sparkles, and the arrows weren’t as prominent. Better than the Indian ones, but still not as good as the C&C one.

luckyrabbit :  thank you, that’s helpful. I’m thinking it might be safest to stick to C&C then for an engagement ring…

I don’t like any of the C&C settings. Are there any other places online to buy simple settings ? Was going to use MoCo but not sure now.

bliblob :  there is Joseph Schubach. True Gem Company. Helzberg. Fire and Brilliance. They all deal with C&C. You could even have David Klass made a setting for you. I heard his price is dang good.

If you want to use Tianyu, they’re better at antique cuts I heard.

bliblob :  You can get a  Stuller (relatively inexpensive) setting through Love Affair Diamonds. She also sells Harro Gem antique cut moissanites.

bliblob : Try https://betterthandiamond.com/ – this company has done a lot of R&D to improve the H&A moissy cut and this would be my first choice if I were in the market for a H&A moissy.

And the Amora Eternity vs diamond:

Pay close attention starting at .35 – bright, diffuse light is where H&A cut moissy usually fails because it has less scintillation vs diamond (just the nature of H&A cut SiC) and why most people complain their stone doesn’t look lively. The Amora Gem looks pretty good in comparison to the diamond – the diamond is a bit more lively but not by much.

dracarys :  Great idea! Erica has opened up her Stuller catalog and there is ample selection at reasonable prices – she will set your stone or source one for you.
